About Laguna Beach artist Silke Turner

Silke Turner artist

A fallen leaf.

A piece of rusted metal exposed to the natural elements.

A piece of rope.

An old tool.

We are surrounded by discarded and weathered objects; their purpose long forgotten.

It is the raw nature of an object that speaks to artist Silke Turner and inspires her to create her one-of-a-kind jewelry, accessories, and mixed media collages.

Silke was born in Luebeck, Germany, and came to Laguna Beach, California, by way of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She is a self-taught artist who is inspired by all that surrounds her. Her one-of-a-kind pieces highlight the beauty of a long forgotten object that now wears the patina of age.

Silke breathes new life into these objects, uncovering and highlighting beauty where it is least expected. She repurposes found metal, wood, bone, and other objects into her vast body of work where natural texture and exposure to the elements draw in the viewer.
